Lots of sites pitch low-fi knockoffs of classic Atari games, but Atari Arcade — a joint venture among Atari, Microsoft and developer Grant Skinner — mixes things up by offering authentic, tastefully reimagined versions. Part of Atari’s 40th-anniversary celebration (Atari released its first game, Pong, in November 1972), Atari Arcade lets you play in your browser, where you riffle through a pivoting left-hand menu that resembles a stack of Atari 2600 cartridges and choose from classics like Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command and Lunar Lander, then play with simple keystrokes or touchscreen taps if you’re surfing on a tablet.
