Even in the Internet age, the war on paper is ultimately unwinnable. But you can score a victory of sorts by using a document scanner to turn printed paperwork into digital files. One of the nicest is Fujitsu’s ScanSnap S1300i, a $295 desktop model with an automated document feeder which can scan up to 12 double-sided pages a minute. You can create PDFs, bring documents into Word or Excel for editing and store stuff in Evernote, Google Docs or Dropbox. And an app called ScanSnap Connect lets you view your scans on an iPhone, iPad or Android gadget.
