Though the Ube WiFi Smart Dimmer wasn’t announced at SXSW, the company used the show to reveal a cool addition to its line of upcoming touch-sensitive dimmer switches. Aside from being able to dim a single light with a one-finger swipe or a set of lights with a two-finger swipe, Ube filed a patent that’ll let users control other connected objects via customizable gestures.
In a demo video for Engadget, Ube’s Utz Baldwin gave the example of swiping a W shape across the dimmer to turn your sprinkler system on and off. It essentially lets the dimmer control any other IP-enabled smart devices on your home’s network.
Ube is currently in the midst of a Kickstarter funding campaign, with dimmers starting at $49.
