As its daily Gold Box daily deal, Amazon is selling refurbished 9-inch Kindle Fire tablets at $179 for the model with 16 gigabytes of storage, or $199 for the model with 32 gigabytes of storage. New, these tablets sell for $269 and $299, respectively.
Though these are refurbished models, Amazon says they are “certified to work and look like new” and carry the same one-year warranty as new models. These models also come with Amazon’s “special offers,” which are basically ads that show on the tablet’s lock screen. They can be removed for an additional $15.
While saving $90 to $100 over new models is a good deal, it’s also probably a sign that Amazon might be attempting to clear out inventory in order to make way for new Kindle Fire tablets to be rolled for the holidays.
This deal is good today only, “or until they’re all gone,” says Amazon.
