If racing games aren’t your thing, there’s nothing Forza Motorsport 5‘s going to do to change your mind, but if you’re a Forza diehard, this is Microsoft’s premium Gran Turismo-taunting sim racing series and it’s a launch day game, which is kind of a big deal.
Sixty frames per second, full 1080p, hundreds of cars from dozens of manufacturers (down significantly from Forza 4, but who’s really going to sneeze at 200, including first-timers like the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1). You can lay rubber to asphalt on 14 meticulously (and in many cases completely re-rendered) international tracks, and instead of traditional canned A.I. opponents, you’ll be racing against what Turn 10 calls a Drivatar: computer-controlled racers that learn to steer and turn and break adaptively, vamping off you and your friends’ propulsive skills and idiosyncrasies.
