Bad news first: there’s a one-in-six chance that your cellphone has fecal matter on it.

The good news? Two inventors said they’ve created a cellphone charger that will take care of the mess for you.

At the International CES 2014 in Las Vegas, Dan Barnes and Wesley LaPorte announced they’ve developed a charger called PhoneSoap, which uses electromagnetic radiation used in hospitals to kill 99.9 percent of bacteria and viruses off your device, United Press International reports. They were moved to take decisive action by a 2011 University of London study that found 16% of phones were contaminated with the fecal bacteria E. coli.

The electromagnetic UV-C light kills bacteria and viruses in 3 to 5 minutes and can be used both on smartphones and cellphones smaller than 6-inches by 4 inches.
