Get a slice of this news. If you want to get a taste of Mango, Windows is offering some all around. Microsoft announced yesterday that Windows Phone 7.5 (also known as Mango; what’s up with all of these food names by the way?) would be pushed out to every phone, regardless of carrier.
Well, every phone but three, which includes the Samsung Omnia 7, Dell Venue Pro and Samsung Focus. Microsoft teased that a firmware update could be available as early as next week. The upgrade, though, won’t be an en masse update and timing will vary depending on manufacturer.

Microsoft’s Eric Hautala noted in a blog post on Thursday that “We’re now delivering Mango to 100 percent of eligible phones around the world, regardless of carrier.” Of course, Mango should help with performance and fix bugs on existing Windows phones. The update also contains several new features, like voice-to-text, multi-tasking, and Bing vision. It’s a fair bet Windows Phone will need more than just that to stay competitive with Android and iOS 5, but hey it’s a start.
