FCC Hobbles AT&T, T-Mobile Merger
The FCC’s made it clear it’s no fan of AT&T and T-Mobile’s proposed merger, saying the deal could harm competition and that it’s not in the public interest by invoking a rarely used process in which the proposed merger’s sent to a trial-like hearing, where deals like this usually crumble.

Galaxy Nexus Audio Fix in the Offing
That strange, rocker-switch-related volume glitch with the Galaxy Nexus? Samsung says it’s “aware of the volume issue and [has] developed a fix,” and that it “will update devices as soon as possible.”

China, World’s Largest Smartphone Buyer
Move over U.S., China just snatched the “world’s largest smartphone market by volume” crown, says research firm Strategy Analytics, growing 58% to 24 million units in the third quarter, year-on-year, as U.S. smartphone shipments fell 7% to 23 million units.

More Hacked Climate Scientist Emails Leaked
Ruh-roh: Another 5,000 private emails sent by top climate scientists over the past 10 years and accessed illicitly by a hacker (or hackers) were unceremoniously released yesterday, in what the The Guardian calls “an apparent attempt to repeat the impact of a similar release of emails on the eve of the Copenhagen climate summit in late 2009.”
