Hot on the heels of announcing their partnership with horror auteur Guillermo Del Toro, THQ debuted a new gamemaking facility in the heart of Montreal. The new studio will focus on hardcore games and will be built around Patrice Désilets. At Ubisoft, Désilets worked on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and was a Creative Director for the Assassins’ Creed games.

THQ executive vice-president Danny Bilson spoke about the new studio at a press conference this morning and we’ve captured some of his remarks on video.

Later, Bilson spoke to Techland about how he views game development. At the beginning of the interview, Bilson talk a bit about Red Menace, the DC/Wildstorm limited series co-written by him a few years back.

Bilson also explains Désilets’ absence from today’s event. THQ aren’t yet announcing what the studio will be working on but it seems like Bilson’s dedicated to supporting whatever creative vision comes from the new facility.
