Amidst the iPhone 4S news today, Apple unveiled some slight adjustments to its line of iPods. The iPod Shuffle and iPod Classic models remain unchanged (despite earlier whispers that the click-wheeled iPod Classic may be put to sleep indefinitely), while the iPod Nano and iPod Touch models have seen a handful of software tweaks alongside some price reductions.

The square-screened iPod Nano has gotten an interface makeover, with new larger icons atop a multitouch interface. Apple’s caught wind of people using iPod Nanos as geeky wrist watches, too, as the company’s added 16 different virtual watch faces to the Nano. Nike+ support is built in as well, and the Nano’s starting price has shifted to $129 for the 8GB version and $149 for the 16GB version.
On the iPod Touch front, the starting price has moved to $199 for the 8GB model, followed by 32- and 64-gigabyte models at $299 and $399, respectively. There’s a new white color option, to boot, and iPod Touch models starting with the third generation (2009 and later) will have access to Apple’s new iOS 5 interface when it launches on October 12th. That means built-in free text messaging using Apple’s iMessage service and access to the new iCloud features.
The newly-priced iPod Nano and iPod Touch are available now.
