My Mom’s On Facebook, The Music Video

Made for anyone whose shameless Web presence was cut short due to family members infiltrating social media, this video has been gaining viral-levels of attention this week. On the surface, it pokes fun at the ‘clueless’ appearance of older family members’ attempts at navigating social media, when it’s actually proving that maybe it’s the parents themselves who should be ashamed of what their kids post online, not vice versa.

Really, I’ve never had a beef with parents on the ol’ Facebook. Hell, my Grams is on Facebook and I love it. Besides, someone once told me that if I couldn’t do something in front of my mother and my preacher, then I shouldn’t do it at all. To that person I now say: That’s what limited profiles are for.

Enter Soulo, a software and microphone kit that can turn an iPad or other Apple device into a karaoke machine. It gives you instant karaoke in the privacy of your own home, or wherever you carry your Apple gadgets. That’s the idea, anyway.

Great video! When my mom first joined FaceBook I felt exactly like that! I got a few questions from her about some *ahem* compromising photos and posts, so I did end up cleaning up my profile. But, I have since quit Facebook altogether, so I don’t care that she’s on it now!
(If only she’d stop updating me on her newest Farmville items!)
