New Comics for 9/22/10

Don’t go to your local comic shop unprepared. Bring a list. Be a person with a plan. Stroll those racks with presence of a comic shopper that knows the score. So study up, and check back later in the week for the featured pull list, the Panel of the Week and the Comic Book Club.

What are you thinking about The Avengers so far? I’m only holding on to it to see how Red Hulk and the Illuminati change things.
If not, I’m thinking it’s going to be dropped. Maybe New Avengers next if it doesn’t smarten itself up too.

I’m thinking that I hate time travel stories and so far this hasn’t been an exception. The Comic Book Club reviewed issue number one and I can’t even think what happened in the three issues since then. Tony built a time machine with Marvel Boy’s help? Time is going “crazy”? Spider-Man has made a bunch of one liners? In a post-Siege world I know we are getting away from events but I guess I wanted an Avengers story that was a bit more down to Earth. That’s not really what they do though, is it?

I think the Avengers title I’m enjoying the most right now might be Academy. If you can believe that.

I do believe it, actually. I’ve been hearing that Academy is the cream of the crop for the Avengers titles.

Secret Avengers has been pretty great, while Avengers: The Children’s Crusade and Avengers: Prime are unfortunately bi-monthly issues – but excellent stories.

Avengers #5 was pretty decent. It was a different pacing than the past four issues, so I mean, it wasn’t great, but it definitely was a TON better than the past four issues. So there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

Now to just fix Romita’s artwork. :-S
