To celebrate the top gadgets and gizmos of this year, TIME has compiled a list of the 50 Best Inventions of 2010. You may have never ridden on Amtrak’s beef-powered train, but you have to admit that it could potential help save the oil dependence crisis – although we’re not sure if we’re willing to take this path at the expense of Bessie. Some are wacky, some are just cool and others you can’t remember a time without them.
