The Reapers Abound In “Mass Effect 3″

The trailer for the final chapter in Mass Effect series was released during Spike’s Video Game Awards this past Saturday, and I’m already putting it on my Chrismukkah wishlist for next year. Mass Effect 3 is slated to be released during 2011′s holiday season for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC simultaneously, and while it may be a long wait for some of us (except for you PS3 players: You’re only getting Mass Effect 2′s demo on December 22 and the full game on January 11), it seems that it will be worth it.

“There’s so much excitement and energy at a major awards show like the VGAs, and it really helps you realize what an impactful, mainstream entertainment and art form video games are now,”  BioWare Corp CEO Ray Muzyka said in a statement. “The anticipation for Mass Effect 3 from our fans was crazy, so we’re delighted to be able to finally announce Mass Effect 3, and we look forward to sharing more details about the game with our fans soon in the New Year!”

I loved Mass Effect 2, and the series has yet to disappoint me. There’s no details if they’re going to convert it to a multiplayer game, although I’m hoping they stick to the single-player format that us fans love so much. Are you excited to reprise the role of Commander Shephard again?

I’m all for a multiplayer ME game. Just not ME3. Center it around the First Contact War or a custom SPECTRE…and fully custom, by race, gender, etc…and send them on a mission to take down somethign somewhere with a specialized skill set that you create. But it’s still interative online, ala Borderlands or Battlefield.

Cant wait to play another mass effect! My only disappointment with two is that you spent the whole game assmebling the team to only do one mission, it felt like it needed more to happen in the last part of the game. Im hoping ME3 starts off with characters from ME2 and shepard ready to go.
