We all knew it was coming, but now we have a tentative release date: Expect the entire Star Wars six-movie blu-ray set to be out in September. Check out the fans eagerly anticipating the Star Wars blu-ray announcement at CES (when they were probably supposed to be reporting on important news stories):

You have three options (according to The Hollywood Reporter). Amazon is offering $50 off the preorder of the whole set and $25 off the smaller sets. The suggested MSRP is $139.99 and $69.99 for the other two respectively:
– For The Completists: Star Wars: The Complete Saga will feature all six live-action features, along with three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes and an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives.
– For Those Who Like Expensive Doorstops: A Prequel Trilogy will include Episodes I through III (The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith)
– For Those In Denial: Original Blu-ray Trilogy set will include Episodes IV-VI (1977’s A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Backand Return of the Jedi).
Normally I would protest and complain about how George Lucas is just extorting more money from me. I mean, come on, haven’t I bought enough memorabilia and licensed merchandise from the expanded universe already? But then again, the picture is so crisp and shiny…
