Cyber Clean Goop De-Cruddifies Your Keyboard

Look down at your keyboard right now. Like, really closely.

If it’s more than six months old, you’ll probably notice a bunch of crumbs and gunk in between the keys. There are a few tried and true methods for cleaning your keyboard, like putting it in the dishwasher or using a little Q-tip to scrub between each individual key.

The problem with the dishwasher method is that A) it makes people nervous and B) you have to unload the dishwasher first. Who has time to unload a dishwasher, am I right? It takes longer than you think. Only marginally longer, but definitely longer. Plus, if you work in an office, you probably don’t have access to a dishwasher. And who’s going to believe that you’re taking your work keyboard home to wash it in your own dishwasher? It looks like petty theft, at best.

And the Q-tip thing? Come on. That’d take forever and it seems neurotic, especially if you work in an office.

“You coming to the morning meeting, Carl?”

“No! I’m still on the top row of keys, so beat it! Please don’t touch any of my stuff. Your hands are filthy.”

I might suggest you take this Cyber Clean goop for a spin. The company sent me a sample (unsolicited!) and it actually worked pretty well at de-cruddifying a keyboard that I used for almost three years straight. You basically press a blob of spongy, sorta-sticky goop in between the keys on your keyboard and it grabs all the crumbs and debris that have been living there.

The material itself isĀ biodegradableĀ and non-toxic, and single packs start at around six bucks. You use the yellow blob until it turns a greenish color, at which point you throw it away. Simple.
