It looks like the rumors were true. Toshiba’s previously-leaked 10.1-inch Android tablet has officially been put on display at the IFA show in Berlin.
It’s indeed running on the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, which sports a dual-core processor and enhanced graphics capabilities. The 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch display has a resolution of 1024×600 pixels, the tablet is running Android 2.2, and there’s 16GB of storage built-in.
The tablet weighs in at around 1.7 pounds, which is a little on the heavy side. As for dimensions, it measures 11 inches long by 7.1 inches wide by 0.55 inches thick.
Engadget spent some hands-on time with the tablet and, unfortunately, things look a little iffy. Apparently the build quality seems a little cheap, the custom interface that Toshiba is using leaves a bit to be desired, and there doesn’t seem to be any access to the Android Market. To make matters worse, “the screen looks as cheap and low res as could be.”
None of that may make any difference to those of us here in the US, as Toshiba’s press release only mentions that the tablet will be available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa this year. Pricing has been set at €399, which is roughly equivalent to $511. That’s not to say it would cost $511 here–if anything, it’d probably be priced at $399. The base-level iPad, for instance, costs €499 abroad and $499 here.

Although it is only 14mm slim and weighs only 760g, the FOLIO 100 still packs a powerful Nvidia® TegraTM 2 processor that offers a perfect balance between high performance and low battery consumption.
