What an exciting, monumental day for not one, not two, but THREE industries! Porn, the 3D industry, and movie theaters all won big as “what is being billed as the world’s first 3D porn film” was screened in theaters all over Hong Kong today. Maybe it’s the first publicly screened 3D porn film, but don’t forget about 2010’s 3D blockbuster This Ain’t Avatar XXX.
“I’m curious, Doug,” you’re saying to yourself. “Who would go out and see such a spectacle in public? Surely only perverts, the unemployed, and what’s undoubtedly a large cross-section of those two groups, right?”
Wrong!
Just ask Justin Lai, who’s a girl named Justin for some reason. She told the AFP, “I’m not normally much of a movie-goer, but this one is just too good to miss.” And don’t forget about college student Yan Shek—also a girl—who said, “We are very curious. It is the first time to see an X-rated film in the cinema. It should be very interesting.”
Who’s “we,” Yan Shek? Do you have a mouse in your pocket? Perhaps you’re trying to hide a man named David, who told the AFP that “he snuck out of work to watch the movie.” No last name, David? Well played.
For those of you interested in the plotline, the 3D nudestravaganza is a remake of Hong Kong’s most popular adult film, Sex and Zen, which was originally released in 1991.
The new version is called 3-D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy and, according to the AFP, is set in the Ming dynasty and “chronicles the story of a young man who, after being introduced to the erotic world of an aristocrat, realizes his ex-wife is the love of his life.” That sounds very romantic!
The film’s producer contends that there’s interest in the U.S. as well, so we’ll see if it actually makes it into theaters here. The simple fact that it’s a 3D film ought to be enough, given the other 3D schlock that passes for entertainment—and somehow commands a premium—in theaters these days.
