The iPhone fairy has come to grant the masses a wish. According to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, industry insiders say that the seemingly mythical white iPhone will drop at the end of this month.
Last month, Apple’s Phil Schiller said so himself. Asked directly by normal person Eric Anderson, Schiller tweeted back, “The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!).” One of Bloomberg’s sources said the device will be available from both Verizon and AT&T by the end of April. In any case, all reports seem to suggest it will be anytime in the next few weeks.
Why now? Why not earlier? Well, it seems like there were some manufacturing issues with the paint peeling (which just wouldn’t make it a white iPhone anymore, would it?) and sensors on the phone, resulting in a 10-month delay.
There were some rumors circulating that the device would drop at the end of February, thanks to Best Buy-powered speculation. Unfortunately, if the gadget doesn’t appear soon, the white iPhone may just have to be shoved back under the category of imaginary things we always hear about but haven’t seen yet. Like unicorns.
The sources go on to say that a new iPhone won’t appear this June either. People seem pretty divided as to when the actual refresh will happen, but hey, if it’s September, and you have to wait, you should content yourself with a SHINY BRAND NEW WHITE IPHONE.
Except, if the magazine is correct, your brand new white iPhone will also be outdated in four or five months. Just can’t win ‘em all, people.
