It’s Monday! Time for some handpicked gadget deals.
Refurbished iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G: $329 at AT&T
Yama hama—I thought the first-generation iPad was a good deal when Apple was selling the refurbished Wi-Fi versions for $349. I’d categorize AT&T’s $329 Wi-Fi + 3G refurbished iPad in the well-deserved, yet seldom-referenced “Great Deal” section of my vernacular.
This is the 16GB model and it looks like you’ll have to shell out for at least a month of 3G service starting at $15, but you can cancel any time after that and just use the iPad’s built-in Wi-Fi connection until the next time you need 3G.
LG 50-inch Plasma TV: $600 at Fry’s
If you’re looking for a gigantic TV for a decent price, here’s one worth checking out. Unlike other inexpensive plasma TVs, this 50-inch LG is a “TruSlim” model that measures only two inches thick.
It’s still plenty heavy at 60+ pounds, but maybe just consider that a built-in theft deterrent feature. Other features include 1080p picture quality, a two-year panel warranty, three HDMI inputs, and a 600Hz refresh rate.
Apple iPod Nano with extras: $130 at Woot.com (today only)
Today only, Woot.com is selling the current-generation iPod Nano for $20 less than Apple, PLUS you get a whole bunch of extra crap with it.
That crap includes the following: FM transmitter, armband, case, spare car and home chargers, auxiliary audio cable, and four screen protectors. You get all that stuff, plus a new 8-gigabyte iPod Nano in one of several colors.
HP 14-inch notebook: $350 at Best Buy
Best Buy is selling the sub-five-pound HP G4 laptop for just $350 this week.
The machine has a 14-inch 136×768 screen, dual-core AMD processor, three gigabytes of RAM, 320-gigabyte hard drive, DVD burner, and Windows 7.
It’s currently backordered, but that’s a good sign that members of the general public are going ape over it. That, or someone in a warehouse somewhere dropped a pallet of them by accident.
Refurbished 26-inch LED-backlit Vizio TV with internet apps: $250 at Geeks.com (today only)
If you don’t have apps on your TV yet, then something is seriously wrong with your life (according to people who make TVs with apps).
You can get in to the apps-on-your-TV game for just $250 today, as Geeks.com is selling a refurbished 26-inch LED-backlit Vizio TV on the cheap.
The 90-day warranty makes me nervous like a mother watching her son play Pee Wee football for the first time, but I’ve been told I have overly maternal instincts for a person named Doug. You can, however, extend the warranty to a year for an extra $33—something that’s not possible with children.
