It’s Monday! Time for some handpicked gadget deals.

Apple iPod Shuffle: $30 at Cowboom (today only)

DT_739387_1Remember when Apple announced the third-generation iPod Shuffle? Jobsie was like, “People don’t want buttons on their MP3 players anymore!” (I’m paraphrasing).

And half of the “people” were like, “Sweet simmering steak fajitas, has Apple gone crazy?” (I’m paraphrasing), while the other half of the people were like, “If Apple says no buttons, then I love no buttons!” (I’m not paraphrasing).

Now you can see what all the fuss is about. That fuss will set you back $30 (today only)—that’s for a brand new, non-refurbished unit, too.

Toshiba 42-inch LED-backlit 3D TV: $850 at MacMall (today only)

$(KGrHqEOKowE35VW)09pBN zBuK1EQ~~_35MacMall is hawking a 42-inch LED-backlit 3D TV from Toshiba via eBay’s daily deal… um, deal.

Here’s what’s good about a TV that big for that price: It’s got an LED-backlit screen. It’s got a 240Hz refresh rate. It weighs less than 30 pounds. It has a 1080p resolution.

Some would argue that the fact that it’s a 3D set makes it a good deal, too. That may be true in your case. At this price, it’s almost as if the 3D got thrown in for free. The deal is good today only.

Refurbished Sony Dash 7-inch internet thing: $60 at Sony (today only)

CE01153A_Specs09

Originally released about a year ago for $200, the Chumby-like Sony Dash Personal Internet Viewer can now be had for a mere $60 directly from the company—the deal is good today only and it’s for a refurbished unit with a 90-day Sony warranty. Use coupon code OUTLETDASH60 to get the deal.

The Dash sports a 7-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi connection, and 1,000+ free apps that allow you to “access your favorite parts of the internet at a glance.” It’s kind of like a tablet that sits on your nightstand or desk and always has to be plugged into a power outlet.

You can stream video from the likes of Netflix and YouTube, there are the requisite Facebook and Twitter apps, and the Dash functions as a handsome digital photo frame and alarm clock, too.

HP Pavilion dm4 14-inch notebook: $600 at Staples

s0421866_sc7Here’s what I like about this notebook: It’s only $600 and it sports an Intel Core i5 processor and it’s housed in brushed aluminum and it only weighs 4.4 pounds even though it’s got a 14-inch screen and a DVD burner.

That’s about it, though. Oh and it has a fingerprint reader and 6+ hour battery life. And six gigabytes of RAM. I like those things, too.

I don’t like that you have to send away for a $50 rebate. Nobody likes mail-in rebates. So for me, this computer costs $650. For anyone who’s the least bit organized, it costs $600 plus postage to send out the rebate form.

No-contract Palm Pixi Plus smartphone: $58 at Newegg

Palm Pixi Review: Not Bad, Far From Great

You know how when you drop your phone in an outhouse and then you explain to the people at the phone store what happened? And then you expect them to give you your same phone for $200 but without all the outhouse stuff on it? And they tell you that you can’t have your phone for $200 until like a year and a half from now, but you can have it for $600 right now? And you finally realize why cool smartphones only cost $200?

So, then you ask what you can get for NOT $600 and they give you one of the phones that you see in a movie being re-run on TV Land during the afternoon on Saturday. Basically, what I’m saying is that you can buy this Palm Pixi Plus for $58 and you won’t have to start a new contract. Is it the best phone in the universe? No. Can it replace your outhouse phone until your contract’s up? Handily. Especially for $58.
