There’s a lot of music online–more than most people have time to keep up with. That’s why you’ve got us. Every week, we’ll point you toward three excellent new downloads or videos from chart-topping stars, cult favorites and unknown geniuses.
1. Remember that astonishing interactive video Chris Milk made for Arcade Fire’s “We Used to Wait” a couple of months ago? He’s done it again. “3 Dreams of Black”–the video for “Black,” a song from Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi’s forthcoming Rome album, which features Norah Jones on vocals–is a spectacular piece of animation, guided by the viewer (you use your mouse to control your perspective on its landscapes), and even partly created by its viewers, as you can see when the song itself ends. Just don’t try to look at it in any browser other than Chrome, and make sure you’ve got some serious processing power.

2. The late French singer Lizzy Mercier Descloux was one of the flagship artists of the post-punk label Ze Records; she recorded a string of albums that drew on disco, dissonant noise and African music. Ze has put together a Descloux greatest-hits album called From Heaven With Love, which pulls together songs from her late ’70s and ’80s recordings. Right now, it’s available as a free download in exchange for an email address.

3. The unusually-capitalized Swedish pop band jj has come up with a new wrinkle on the physical-vs.-digital-distribution problem. Their new single “No One Can Touch Us Tonight”–a dreamy, effervescent synth-pop tune with some bizarre production touches–has been released in a physical edition of exactly ten copies, with handmade covers, priced at 100 euros apiece. If you just want to hear its songs, though, you can download them for free through their label Sincerely Yours.
