With the hefty minimum price tag of $629 (including 3G), the iPad 2 isn’t exactly a recession buster. But aside from the cost of software development, how much is an iPad 2 really worth?

According to All Things Digital, who got an exclusive look at the breakdown from market research firm IHS iSuppli, the total cost of all the hardware for a 32 GB iPad 2 with 3G comes in at $325. The report breaks down the cost of everything form Apple’s A5 chip ($14) to its touch-sensitive display ($127).

So are we getting royally jipped by Apple? It’s hard to say, and it depends on how you value the less tangible factors like the cost of developing the software. We just hope that the love you’ll feel for your new gadget is priceless. Read the detailed report here.
