I had a chance to play Link Between Worlds in late September, and it’s definitely a Link to the Past sequel, only here you’ll cruise around a 3D version of Hyrule at 60 silken frames per second.
The standout gameplay wrinkle — Link’s ability to morph into a flat, two-dimensional wall drawing and glide like a shadow over surfaces — adds a welcome twist to navigational puzzles, challenging you to think about areas with respect to their surface angles and how those surfaces connect, say the walls and platforms around a barred window that’d be impassable, but for Link’s ability to flatten and slide around the bars like a viridescent wraith.
