Poor Tumblr. Late last year, the popular blogging site’s usual service came to a maddening halt when regularly scheduled maintenance inadvertently took down a crucial database cluster. The result was a slew of sadfaced cool-kids and meme-technicians without a platform to vent for days. The downtime even drew the crosshairs of a whimsical opportunist, who created the funnier-than-you’d-think whentumblrdown.com.
To their credit, Tumblr took the crisis in stride, paying ode to Twitter’s Fail Whale with their own brand of varmints: the TumblBeasts pictured above.
