Get ready for more motion sensor controlled gaming. PrimeSense, the Israeli company that created the depth sensor for Microsoft’s Kinect, announced today that they will be bringing that technology to a device for the PC. The WAVI Xtion Media Center for the PC will use the PrimeSense Immersive Natural Interaction technology – you know, that program that everyone hacked to make their own 3D cameras – so that people can “browse multimedia content, access the Internet and social networks, and enjoy full body interaction in a more user-friendly and natural living room experience,” according to the press release. Wait, I’m confused? Isn’t that what we sort of do with our Kinects right now? Besides your living room or your bedroom, where else would you put your Kinect?

Anyway, there’s also a bit of exciting news for developers. Along with partner company ASUS, the two are releasing a 3D development program so that people can create their own motion sensing programs. “Our agreement with ASUS for developing WAVI Xtion demonstrates that Natural Interaction technology is already mainstream,” PrimeSense CEO Inon Beracha said.“This user interface is a new paradigm that represents how all CE products will eventually be naturally controlled and operated.”

The product will be available February 2011, so it’s not going to be that long of a wait for those of us who don’t know how to adapt the Kinect technology for own own devices. (No pun intended.)
