Bungie, the studio behind Halo, spent five years working on Destiny before showing it off to the public at E3. Although the game resembles Halo in how it plays, the big distinction is its surrounding massive multiplayer world, which lets players form squads and discover random allies as they hunt for ever-better loot. Publisher Activision clearly sees Destiny as its next cash cow–not just when the game launches next year, but for many years to follow. As other publishers work on games with similar multiplayer features, the pressure’s on Bungie to create something that really stands out. At least what we’ve seen so far looks like fun.
Release Date: 2013 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One
