The New York Times‘ website has recently been doing away with some of its blogs. Let’s hope it doesn’t touch Andrew Revkin’s Dot Earth, an ambitious one-reporter blog about human beings and their relationship with Earth. By definition, it’s about as big as a journalistic mission can get, but you might still be surprised by the diversity of Revkin’s fodder. During one recent week, he wrote about genetic engineering of oranges, “nonhuman personhood,” Google’s campaign contributions to a global warming-doubting senator and undue concern over a lake at the North Pole, among other subjects.
