Like every other Star Wars nerd, I was giddy as could be when George Lucas announced that the Blu-ray boxset of all six films would include deleted scenes from the Lucasfilm archives. Luke Sykwalker himself presented the following to whet our appetites until the fall of next year. But the Geeks of Doom dug up the following video of an …

Depressing: Ray Bradbury Hates The World Today
Maybe I’m expecting too much of Ray Bradbury; he is, after all, about to turn 90 on August 22nd, and therefore can be allowed to be slightly uncertain about the way that the world today has turned out. But there’s really something dispiriting about the curmudgeonly portrait of the Farenheit 451 author from the LA Times, which includes …
New Comics for 8/18/10
Here is the list of new comics coming out this Wednesday. Please don’t take this as some type of ultimatum. It’s just a list. Do with it what you like. Now the featured Pull List that comes out tomorrow, that’s a different story. Those are words to be heeded. Today, however, peruse.
(A ♠ marks my projected pull list.)

Sony Addresses iPhone In Latest PSP Ad
Having been to things like E3 and GDC, I’ve poked and prodded Nintendo and Sony about Apple’s move into the mobile gaming space. Neither party has provided a worthwhile quote on the subject. But Sony has directly targeted the mobile platform in its latest PSP ad. According to Marcus, the iPhone wasn’t built for “big boy …

Mat Johnson and Simon Gane’s graphic novel Dark Rain: A New Orleans Story is a bank-heist thriller with a surprising setting: New Orleans in the middle of the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe. It comes out in comics stores this Wednesday and in bookstores next week, just before the fifth anniversary of Katrina. Here’s an exclusive preview …
The Singularity Is Coming; or No It Isn’t; or Wait Maybe It Is!
I was in San Francisco this past weekend, covering the Singularity Summit.
You probably know what the Singularity is. If I was 100% sure that you knew, I wouldn’t try to explain what it is. But a sliver of doubt remains, so here goes.
Every once in a while human civilization reaches a moment when the rate of social and …
Origins: What Influences Scott Pilgrim Director Edgar Wright
It isn’t every day you get to interview someone like Edgar Wright – someone so interesting, insightful, inspired. This guy clearly loves movies. He loves to watch them, to make them, to think about them, to talk about them. And after spending 45 minutes on the phone with him, I can already tell: This is the kind of dude you want to …
Deleted ROTJ Scene Surfaces
Don’t expect this video to last too much longer on YouTube.
Video has surfaced from today’s Star Wars Blu-ray box set announcement and it’s a doozy. The scene was thought to have been lost forever but it shows Luke in a cave putting the finishing touches on his green lightsaber.

Lego’s Empire Strikes Back Tribute
Techland alum Tracey John is down in Orlando covering Celebration V and just posted this photo to her Twitter account. Lego announced earlier this week that CV goers had the opportunity to help build a mystery 8-foot tall, 15-foot wide mural and it looks like it’s all finished. Builders were given one of 10,000 limited edition white Boba …
Jon Stewart Gets His Own Star Wars Action Figure
Aside from the Blu-ray unveil during The Main Event at Celebration V in Orlando earlier today; George Lucas presented Jon Stewart with a one of a kind 3.75-inch Jon Stewart Stormtrooper action figure from Hasbro. Stewart’s figure comes with two interchangeable heads – one with a goatee and one without.
