Gustaf Mantel’s If We Don’t, Remember Me is a Tumblr blog that deals exclusively in “living movie stills.” If that sounds like a contradiction in terms, check out the site: IWDRM features animated GIFs based on classic films, in which only part of the image moves, and only in a brief, continuous loop. (These images are sometimes called cinemagraphs.) The choice of movies and scenes is interesting — The Shining, 8 1/2 and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou keep cropping up — and the end results are beautiful, bizarre and hypnotic.
