Sony’s smartphones have always hovered just short of the cutting edge, but the company’s hoping to change that with the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL. Both phones have 5-inch, 1080p displays, 1.5 GHz quad-core processors and 13-megapixel cameras. And if you decide to go all-out with Sony electronics, the phones can pair with the company’s NFC-enabled TVs, speakers and headsets with one tap. For instance, users can tap the phone against the remote control on Sony’s new Bravia TV to instantly stream photos and videos to the big screen.
The only difference between the two phones is their design. The Xperia Z is a bit larger, has a rear glass panel, and is waterproof, while the Xperia ZL is smaller and has a plastic rear panel. They’ll be out this quarter, but no word yet on U.S. availability.
