New Comics for 4/28/10

I hope everyone out there loves crime comics because we’ve got some great titles out this week. Between Stumptown, Shuddertown, and the Last Days your creeping felony itch is covered. I’ve marked my pull list with spades (♠) for now but come back tomorrow for a more in-depth look at the featured pull list.

Amazing Spider-Man …

Panel of the Week 4/21/10

It was a week for the throwback. Rereleased books, classic writers, and relaunched franchises were the order of the Wednesday. Today we examine forbidden love, father-son day, destined spears, and vampires of the new world, all here on Panel of the Week.

Magdalena #1
I was pleasantly surprised by this relaunch of Magdalena. I was …

Comics on Our Pull List 4/21/10

Again with all the #1 issues. I guess it’s a byproduct of the written-for-trade world we live in but my pull lists are always dripping with #1’s. Check back on Thursday to see if any of this first issue action made the cut for the Panel of the Week.

American Vampire #2
I loved the first issue of this book. There were enough …

New Comics for 4/21/10

Here’s “the list” for the week. It is not a super exciting week but I’ve spaded (♠) my projected pull list all the same. Stay tuned for the new Techland Comics Round Table with Evan and Wolk coming soon and as always tomorrow we will have our featured pull list.

Amazing Spider-Man #628
Avengers VS Atlas #4

Panel of the Week 4/14/10

It’s that time true believers. The afterglow of Wednesday is fading and we’re all left with a sordid pile of geekery to be filed meticulously in long boxes or simply thrown on the ‘pile’. But before that, here is your Panel of the Week for just one last look into the wonderful and the strange.

Flash #1 Brightest Day
I really hate …

Comics on our Pull List 4/14/10

Here are some of the books that I’ll be picking up this week. Blackest Night is over and Brightest Day is finally upon us. Bullseye gets some screen time with Punisher. Second Coming is already up to Chapter Three. Cover your eyes from The Light and Billy Shakespeare has got his own problems to deal with. Should be a good week. Rolling …

New Comics for 4/14/10

And we’re back! Because you demanded it our Monday list of new comics for the week has returned. Pruned, powdered, and pared down to just the essentials. No toys, no posters, no alternate covers. Just “The List” of what to expect on this coming Wednesday. Of course, tomorrow we will still pick out a handful of titles that we are excited …

Panel of the Week 4/7/10

What a great week. Expensive week, but great. SHIELD, Turf, even the Invincible Returns catch-up issue was much better than I anticipated. The big bright shining star was easily SHIELD, and for good reason, but the art all over the rack was superior. I clipped out a few for you, so here it is, your Panel of the Week.

Comics on Our Pull List 4/7/10

I’m switching things up this week. Instead of my usual Issue Number One pick I’m going to go with five number one issues! (And one number five issue, oh the parity!) In this world of ‘written for trade’ comics here, certainly, are five more entries. As Señor Wolk has already pointed out we’ve got a kajillion too many tpb’s out there …

Panel of the Week 3/31/10

I’m not sure why I think video game comics are going to be good. I keep trying (Gears of War, Metal Gear, Street Fighter, Halo) and I keep getting burned. This week God of War and Dragon Age were both forgettable as well. What franchises out there might make a good comic? Final Fantasy seems like a good candidate, no? Assassin’s Creed? …

Comics on Our Pull List 3/31/10

I’m going to step out a little this week. I’m going try some adaptations on for size. Starting with some video games (Dragon Age, God of War) and moving on to some feature films (Terminator) I’m going to see how well these tales translate. FrankenCastle continues his stitched and stilted march, there’s a new hope that’s not a Star Wars

Panel of the Week 3/24/10

Well, Blackest Siege continued the holding pattern while we wait for the last chapters of the main books to come out. Nemesis crashed a plane into Washington DC. I guess that’s cool now? Nightcrawler throws away a promising career in the circus. Just tosses it away. But, at least we got to see Taskmaster get double teamed. All that and …
