Your very own controllable, kick-butt, bad-guy-thrashin’ dog — that’s the PR hook for Activision’s new Call of Duty-series spinoff, staged during an alternate near-future early 2020s timeline that follows a devastating nuclear exchange in the Middle East.
Beyond that, it’s your garden variety Call of Duty game: a shooter in which things blow up, crazed hijinks ensue and after a few hours you’ll realize the single-player game’s kind of silly (Traffic‘s Stephen Gaghan script or no) and bounce over to multiplayer for the new maps and iterative gameplay modes — in particular Extinction, where up to four class-based players battle aliens (yes, aliens) through 30 incrementally difficult levels.
