Every season, 32 teams hope to make it to the Super Bowl. In that spirit, here are 32 tech companies from Super Bowl ads over the years. Just like NFL teams, some of these companies have flourished; others haven't fared nearly as well.

Sony (2001)

Sony tipped its hand regarding its plans for a PlayStation console it’ll be releasing in 2078. The PlayStation 9, as it’ll be called, features electronic spores that “tap straight into your adrenal gland.” There’s also retinal scanning and a mind-control system. The ad was really a spot for the PlayStation 2 console, for what it’s worth.

Fate: Sony’s still making PlayStations, though the PS9 in 2078 suggests an elongated console release cycle. Can’t wait!
