It seems downright archaic nowadays but it’s hard to forget how startling it was to hear one of the guards yelling “Achtung!” before chasing you around as you blindly fired shots off in all directions.
Aside from eventually blazing the trail for first-person shooters, the Wolfenstein games also almost certainly provided some inspiration for stealth-based series such as Metal Gear, Splinter Cell and others. Get into a firefight head-on or avoid confrontation entirely? Choose wisely.
