Ah yes, Paperboy. Otherwise known as the game that made me so mad I slammed my fist down on the keyboard, causing irreparable damage to the L key. That was a tough one to explain to my dad, but anyone who’s played the game knows how frustrating it is to get through an entire level only to eat it on the first jump in the bonus area. Stupid bonus area.
Aside from all that, the premise of Paperboy was simple and addictive. You, the neighborhood paperboy, ride your bike through suburbia, dodging obstacles such as break dancers, fire hydrants, construction workers and the like. All the while, you’ll need to deliver your newspapers with well-timed tosses toward subscribers’ houses. Miss too many deliveries, and you’ll lose subscribers. Lose too many subscribers, and you’ll lose your job.
