Google’s Nexus devices are for folks who like Android just as Google intended it, without the so-so modifications other hardware companies add. The newest Nexus phone, the Nexus 4, puts Android 4.2 Ice Cream Sandwich — the newest, nicest version — on hardware designed by LG, with a high-resolution 4.7″ screen and a camera which lets you shoot Google Street View-like “Photo Sphere” panoramas. It’s disappointing that this handset does only HSPA+ 4G wireless broadband — not the zippier LTE — but the price, starting at $299 for an unlocked, no-contract 8GB model, is aggressive for a phone this powerful and pleasant.
